An appeals court late Wednesday granted the Justice Department’s request to retain control of classified materials seized from former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort and continue its criminal investigation into the handling of the materials, a major victory for the government.
In a 29-page decision, the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta overturned an earlier order by a federal judge that barred federal agents from using roughly 100 classified documents seized as part of an investigation into whether there were any national security risks posed by how highly sensitive government material held at Mr. Trump’s Florida home.
