Announced earlier this month, the Xbox Elite Series 2 “Core” model is now available. Stripped down to “basic”, the new white pro controller costs $130. The Core Elite Series 2 gives Xbox and PC users a more affordable option in the premium controller market. A complete package of components, which comes with accessories such as paddles and extra analog sticks, is available for $60. Both products are available for purchase at Microsoft Store and Amazon.
The controller features adjustable tension sticks, rubber grips on the grips, and hair trigger locks. Button mapping is available through the Xbox Accessories app, just like for the regular model.
If gamers want to upgrade or replace components on their existing Series 2 controller, they can pick up a complete package of components for $60. This includes interchangeable sticks, paddle shapes and a new D-pad. It also comes with a carrying case, a charging dock and a USB-C cable.
In addition, Microsoft announced that the Elite Series 2 will be added to the Xbox Design Lab this holiday season. This will allow gamers to create and customize their own Xbox controller, and the Elite Series 2 model will join the line of options. Pricing hasn’t been announced, but Design Lab controllers are typically about $10 more than standard models.
Microsoft also revealed a new feature for owners of the Elite Series 2. Gamers can adjust the Xbox button light on their controller from white to a wider range of colors. This feature will be available in the Xbox Accessories app.
Microsoft’s latest Elite controller is designed for performance and competition. In particular, hair trigger locks can help players be more competitive in shooter games as they allow players to shoot faster. The Elite controller is also generally well-received, earning solid ratings.
