Klawf, the new crab-like Pokemon coming to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, gets a makeover inspired by Pokemon Black and White in a fan animation.

One player excited about the launch Pokemon Scarlet and Violet made an animation showing the Rock-type Klawf in the art style of the older games, Pokemon black and white. Klawf is one of the new Pokemon coming to Gen 9, and as its name suggests, it has a crab-like design. While the gaming community waits for the release Pokemon Scarlet and Violetthis recent animation reveals that some of these new pocket monsters look surprisingly good even in the franchise’s older art styles.


This Klawf animation was posted on Reddit by a user known as BobblaKei and managed to capture the unique look of this new Pokemon. According to a Reddit user, they wanted to make a video that reimagined Pokemon “kinda/sort of” in the Pokemon black and white art style, and the final result was nothing short of impressive.

In the clip shared by BobblaKei, Klawf was placed against a turquoise background and was facing forward. Although the animation was short, it conveyed the idea that the pocket monster was alive; it was moving slightly up and down, suggesting that it was breathing. Additionally, a Reddit user managed to convert a 3D design of Klawf from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet extremely good for a 2D look. Some highlights of the Pokemon’s design included the Pokemon’s bulging crab-like eyes, which allow it to see in all directions, and it even had tufts of fur-like substance sprouting from the joints on its legs and claws and above its mouth.

Pokemon black and white they are part of Gen 5 and released on the Nintendo DS over ten years ago. With this in mind, it’s understandable that some users on Reddit felt nostalgic about the latest Klawf fan art. The post shared by BobblaKei has already received several hundred votes, with fans praising the artist’s work. For example, one user commented that he enjoyed the new pixel art look of the artwork. Furthermore, another player said that it reminded them of the sprites from Mario and Luigi games on Nintendo DS.

While this detailed animation of Klawf is impressive, it’s not the only piece of fan art that features this upcoming Pokemon. One player even decided to make an awesome version of Klawf that envisioned him with a grayish shell instead of orange. It will be interesting to see what else this Pokemon becomes the talk of the internet in the days leading up to its release Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
