Nintendo has reported that a bug has been found in Splatoon 3, which could cause votes not to be counted in this weekend’s Splatfest results.

Sharing the details on Twitter, Big N says that some players have discovered that the shells they collected before voting for their Splatfest team – which is Gear, Grub or Fun – may disappear. If they do, it means that the player’s vote may not count.

For now, Nintendo recommends players vote before collecting shells. Here’s the company’s message:

“Found a bug in #Splatoon3 where shells obtained before voting could disappear and not count towards Splatfest scores.

To avoid this problem, we recommend that players vote in Splatfest before collecting shells. We apologize for the inconvenience. This bug will be fixed in the future.”

Shells can be earned during the Splatfest Sneak Peek, which takes place in the days before the next Splatfest. There doesn’t seem to be any problem collecting shells after you’ve voted for your team, so just run up to that board and pick your side!

This weekend’s Splatfest starts at 5pm PT on Friday September 23rd in north america, Saturday 24 September from 2am BST in Europe and 01:00 AEST on Saturday 24 September in Australia. The second half of the event will begin 24 hours after the start of the action. This is a real weekend!

We’ll let you know when Nintendo manages to fix the bug, but for now, ignore those shells until you vote!

Have you experienced this error in Splatoon 3? We have a hint that you will let us know in the comments.
