Has it really been five years since Fortnite introduced its Battle Royale mode? It may be hard to believe, but yes – although it may seem like only a moment has passed, it really does there is already half a decade of enjoyment. As such, Epic decided to throw a 5th birthday party full of fun activities, special tasks and even birthday cake to eat! Here we have everything you need to know about the festivities.
Start and end time of the 5th birthday party
The 5th Birthday Celebration will begin on September 23rd at 6:00am PT / 9:00am ET and will run until September 27th at 6:00am PT / 9:00am ET.
Birthday gifts, birthday cake and balloons
Not only did the battle bus get a birthday makeover during the celebration, but you’ll also be able to achieve some cool things on the ground. When you explore the map, you can find a birthday present that you can open to get high-level loot and some birthday cake, which you can eat to restore your health.
Meanwhile, balloons are also making a comeback during the 5th birthday celebration. These fan-favorite items are a joy to use and allow you to jump higher and fall slower, while eliminating fall damage while inflated. You can inflate up to three at a time, which will cause you to float upwards until you let go or get shot out of the sky. Just make sure no enemy team pops you out of the sky like a carnival game.
Birthday Quests for Birthday Bling
You have some tasks to complete during the birthday party. That way, you’ll earn three unique cosmetic items, which we’ve listed below.
- Fuzzfetti Cake Back Bling
- A celebratory pickaxe
- Sparklecake Emoticon
In addition to all the new things you can look at, you can also do photography. During the celebration, Epic hopes players will celebrate birthdays – either Fortnite’s or their own – by taking birthday-themed in-game photos.
If you want to be part of the fun, post your celebratory photos on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook using the hashtag #FNBR5 or by posting to r/FortniteBR with a fortographic flair. The team at Epic will be highlighting some of their favorite screenshots in a blog post on October 7th, so you might just see yourself having a good time!
Lastly, Epic is holding some Fortnite trivia Twitter and Instagram account during the celebration. If you think of yourself as an encyclopedia of Fortnite knowledge, go test that theory on a variety of questions that cover the entire history of the game.
