The Avengers will return to the big screen in 2025 with a two-part sequel in Avengers: Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. However, we still have no idea what the make-up of the titular team will look like in these two films, given that the team is no longer active in the MCU.

Casting the Avengers in Avengers: Kang Dynasty is essential because this movie will probably be much more about the team and the villain of the movie, something more similar to the first two Avengers movies. While Avengers 5 may have Easter eggs, these will likely be saved more for Avengers: Secret Wars.

So without further ado, let’s take a look at the ten heroes we think are most likely to form the Kang Dynasty Avengers.

Warning: Spoilers for the MCU, up until the latest episode of She-Hulk: The Lawyer.

Captain America

Wilson himself was given the mantle of Captain America during the conclusion of Avengers: Endgame, a fact that viewers saw him wrestle with in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. However, Wilson has seemingly accepted that he will be the next hero to don the shield during the final episodes of the series. Apparently, the next place Wilson will appear is with Captain America 4, Captain America: The New World Order, a film that will show Sam Wilson in all his star-shining glory.

There are several reasons why Captain America is likely to be an Avenger in Avengers: Kang Dynasty, including the simple fact that Sam Wilson was already an Avenger. There’s also an element of the entire Captain America mantle being tied to the word Avenger because Steve Rogers was known as the First Avenger, something that doesn’t necessarily end with Steve.

In the long run, we’ll have to wait and see, and hopefully get a better idea of what’s next for Sam Wilson at the end of Captain America 4. To be honest, he’s one of the heroes that’s much more key to the team.

Ant-Man and the Wasp

The heroes that were involved in the original Avengers line of comics, both Ant-Man and especially the Wasp, are unfortunately a bit overlooked when it comes to this superhero team in the MCU. Ant-Man finally became an official Avenger in Avengers: Endgame, although it was only for a short time, while the Wasp was not included in the MCU team at all. Also, no, we’re not counting the final battle of Avengers: Endgame.

However, story-wise, it would make perfect sense to include at least one of the duo as part of the team, in large part because the duo’s film is playing a villain from the upcoming Avengers movie. At least Kang will have some scenes in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, a story that will obviously affect the Kang dynasty.

Ant-Man and/or the Wasp could be the ones to warn everyone about the threat Kang poses to the Multiverse, and thus they are needed to form this new Avengers team. However, there are rumors that both Ant-Man and Wasp will not survive the film, especially since this is the end of their trilogy, so there is a good chance that we won’t see both of them as members of the upcoming Avengers lineup.

Thor

Thor is currently the only MCU superhero to have movies past a trilogy, a fact that shouldn’t be overlooked because it means Marvel sees value in the hero. Something else worth noting is that comic book teams that have multiple iterations tend to have at least one consistent member, which Thor is a perfect fit for.

The only thing that gives a little pause about whether or not the Asgardian hero will be a member of the team is where the character stands after Thor: Love and Thunder, as it adds a new wrinkle to the character’s story. Thor now has an adopted daughter to contend with, which could end up excluding him from the team. On the other hand, it could be a good reason for the story because maybe Thor wants to help the Avengers stop Kang in an attempt to protect Love. He could always briefly leave Love in the care of New Asgard.

Hulk

Bruce Banner is another choice if Marvel Studios wants a consistent member of the Avengers. Another reason, however, why the Hulk might appear in Avengers: Age of Ultron is that, unlike other heroes, he hasn’t had a starring project since 2008. Although this would be another project he wouldn’t be the lead, it would give the fan-favorite character something other than guest appearances in other people’s projects.

The no-Hulk-focused movies thing is a big deal, but it’s also worth mentioning that there’s a chance that could change after the events of She-Hulk: The Lawyer. Maybe after we see what’s next for the character, possibly during his cousin’s show, we won’t feel the need to include the Hulk in the Avengers lineup. However, with no real confirmation of any of this, there’s no reason he shouldn’t be in any possible lineup for now.

She-Hulk

Even though She-Hulk’s show isn’t over yet, it’s clear that Marvel has big plans for the fan-favorite comic book character. This indicates that the superhero may have many more adventures, and one such adventure is her becoming an Avenger in Avengers: Kang Dynasty.

The most significant evidence of her joining the team so far comes in the fifth episode of her series, in which her best friend Nikki refers to her as an Avenger. She’s also constantly referenced in relation to her cousin and the Avengers throughout the show, which means Marvel Studios may be setting up a payoff with her joining the new iteration of the team.

The only factor that gives her a bit of pause to become an Avenger is that she hasn’t yet embraced being a superhero on her show, although that might change in the second half of the series. We didn’t even get to officially see her in her superhero outfit, as it’s only seen through leaked images.

Shang-Chi

Shang-Chi has several reasons why he could possibly join the upcoming cast, the first of which has to do with the director of Avengers 5. Destin Daniel Crettin, director of Shang-Chi and Legend of the Ten Rings, is set to direct Avengers: Kang Dynasty. Crettin has proven to be an incredible MCU director, but the choice to have him helm The Avengers would have made even more sense if Shang-Chi had been involved in the film as well.

Including Shang-Chi in the upcoming Avengers lineup would also give his solo movie a new sense of purpose. That’s not to say that every MCU movie needs a grand purpose per se, but it’s an element that has seemingly helped the MCU have so much longevity. It would be a choice that might even get people to see Crettin’s film, which may have skipped over Shang-Chi the first time around.

Captain Marvel

Captain Marvel is probably one of the most likely heroes to join the Avengers in their upcoming film. Carol Danvers is very well set up as a character to join the team, which although she already did, was unfortunately extremely short-lived in Avengers: Endgame.

However, like Shang-Chi, the Kang Dynasty director being a crettin also makes it even more likely that Captain Marvel will be a member of the team. That’s because Captain Marvel actress Brie Larson is apparently good friends with The Cretin, as the two have worked together in tons of movies. If you look at Crettin’s work, almost every one of his works involves Larson in some capacity; a factor that likely led to her being one of the heroes included in Shang-Chi’s end credits scene. While this certainly won’t be the only reason, since Carol’s journey is set up to join the Avengers in a larger capacity, it undoubtedly helps make the case for why she will be a member of the Avengers.

The war machine

A hero who has been more of a minor member of the Avengers in the MCU thus far, War Machine is still around and clearly a top priority for Marvel Studios, making him a great candidate for a new Avengers team. Rhodey has appeared in several projects since Avengers: Endgame, as he appeared in The Falcon and the Winter and Soldier and will appear in Secret Invasion. Not to mention they’ll be getting their own project with the Armor Wars series.

It’s also worth noting these projects because they really focused on the government aspect of Rhodey, something that could be important to have in a future Avengers team. Although it hasn’t been mentioned lately, the Sokovia Accords could still cause some problems for the Avengers. This problem could easily be corrected by including a senior member of the government in the team.

It would also be fantastic to include Tony Stark’s best friend on the team so we can still have versions of both Captain America and Iron Man in this new group of Avengers.

Black Panther

Unfortunately, we won’t get to see T’Challa join the official Avengers lineup, at least not for the foreseeable future. However, that doesn’t mean we’ll never see Black Panther join the superhero team, as we’re undoubtedly getting someone else to take up the mantle during the events of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Although we haven’t received confirmation, the next Black Panther will likely be T’Challa’s sister Shuri, especially since the comics have already made this a priority.

As for why we might see whoever takes on the role of Black Panther appear in Avengers: Kang Dynasty, it’s because this would be a great time to right the wrong of T’Challa never being included as a member of the group. He might not be the Black Panther everyone wanted to join, but an Avengers version of the character might ease the pain. Also, like Shang-Chi, he could give the Black Panther franchise a little push to tie in with the Avengers franchise in a larger way, especially now that the MCU is tragically Chadwick Boseman gone.
